Aside from insomnia, it is not healthy to sleep immediately after eating, especially for those people that are suffering from heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), because it will increase their symptoms and causes additional damages.

Make sure you don’t go to bed immediately after eating or drinking. Your bladder will be overwhelmed after drinking a lot, and you will be visiting the bathroom frequently, which will disturb your night sleep.

Limit Your Naps

If you want to improve the quality and duration of your night sleep, you must reduce the duration of your naps because it is one of the major causes of insomnia. Although napping is healthy in some aspects, it not always good when it comes to managing and establishing a good sleeping pattern. You have to train yourself by taking a little nap so that you can sleep better at night.

Make Your Sleeping Environment Comfortable

It is very important to make your sleeping environment comfortable because it will make you more motivated to sleep better for a long time. Make sure your lighting, temperature, noise, and others are under good control to make your bedroom more comfortable and conducive to fall asleep quickly.

You can change your bed, mattress, or other things in your bedroom, just to be comfortable. For pet lovers, keep your pet out of your bedroom so that you will be more comfortable.

Smoking is not healthy for the body system. Either you are young or old, smoking will not allow you to have better and good health. Avoid smoking at all costs.

Most people that smoke regularly find it difficult to fall asleep with a short period, and they find it difficult to sleep again when they wake up at night. If you want to have long lasting night’s sleep, make sure you avoid smoking.

Massage is also one of the methods of avoiding insomnia. There are several kinds of research that show that massage therapy helps to improve the quality and duration of both day and night sleep. Aside from that, it also helps to reduce pain, depression, anxiety, and more. If you don’t have the liberty or money for a professional massage, you can do it by yourself or let your friends, family, or partner give you a good massage.

Wake Up at The Same Time Each Day

Yes, it is very important that you wake up at the same time every day. It helps to train your body at a certain period of time. It will also improve your night sleeping duration and quality, although some people find it so difficult to do this especially during the weekend, they want to spend more time in their bedroom. If you want to want to improve your sleeping duration at night, always wake up at the same time every day.
